Privacy Policy

2. General information about data processing on this website

This website is a static information site. No cookies are set and no data is transmitted to advertising networks. All content, including fonts, is served from our own server; no content is loaded from third-party servers. An anonymous, self-hosted page view counter is used — details in section 4. There is no analysis of user behavior, no cross-site tracking and no profiling.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted on a self-operated server in Germany. When you visit, the web server automatically processes technical information (IP address, date and time of access, requested page, browser type) to the extent technically necessary to deliver the site. This log data is not merged with other data sources and is overwritten after 7 days at the latest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation).

4. Anonymous page view counter

To see how often individual pages are visited, this website counts page views. Only the name of the website, the requested page path, the language version and the date are processed — aggregated into a daily counter per page.

No IP addresses, cookies, device or browser identifiers or any other personal data are stored. Individual visits cannot be attributed to a person or device after the fact. The counting runs on self-operated infrastructure; no third parties are involved. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in measuring the reach of our own offering).

5. The nahbar app

nahbar is an iOS app that lives entirely on your iPhone. Your notes, contacts, personality profiles and visits stay with you — we never get to see them. The one exception is the optional AI features, where data about a selected person is transmitted to an external AI service — and only when you actively trigger this and have consented beforehand. The following sections explain what that means in practice and which few data flows exist nonetheless.

Your data in the app

Everything you record in nahbar — contacts, notes, visits, personality profiles, likes and dislikes — is stored exclusively on your iPhone.

Access to your address book

If you wish, nahbar can import contacts from your iPhone’s address book. iOS explicitly asks for your permission the first time. Processing happens entirely on your device; no contact data is transmitted to us or to third parties. You can revoke the permission at any time in the iOS settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → nahbar). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent).

App analytics and crash reports via Apple

If you have agreed in the iOS settings to share usage and diagnostic data with app developers, Apple transmits aggregated and anonymized information to us — for example how often the app was launched or whether crashes occurred. We receive this data via Apple App Store Connect. It contains no information that would allow us to identify you personally and is used solely to fix bugs and improve the app. You can disable the transmission at any time: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → “Share with App Developers”. Apple is responsible for the collection and transmission; see Apple’s privacy policy for details. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent via the iOS settings).

In-app purchases

If you make a purchase within nahbar, it is processed entirely through Apple’s in-app purchase system. We receive no payment data, no credit card numbers and no Apple ID — we only see, in aggregate, whether purchases have taken place. Apple is responsible for payment processing; Apple’s privacy policy applies in addition. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract).

No external trackers or SDKs

nahbar contains no third-party tracking tools — no analytics SDKs, no ad networks, no crash reporters such as Firebase or Sentry. There is no third party collecting data about you in the background. The only data transmission to an external service happens when you actively use an AI feature — and only then.

AI features (optional)

nahbar offers features that use artificial intelligence to make suggestions — for example conversation topics before a meetup, gift ideas shortly before a birthday, or a read on your relationship patterns. These features are optional; before they are used for the first time, we ask for your permission. On an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, the AI features run entirely on-device via Apple Intelligence — no data leaves your iPhone.

If your iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence, we use the API of Mistral AI, a French company based in Paris (Mistral AI SAS, 15 rue des Halles, 75001 Paris).

Data transmitted: When you start an AI feature for a specific person, that person’s first name, year of birth, interests and the most recently saved moments and log entries are sent to Mistral AI. Before sending, all texts are automatically sanitized: email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs, links and long digit sequences are replaced with placeholders.

Processing: Mistral AI processes API data primarily in the EU. Transfers outside the EU are safeguarded via the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR. Mistral is contractually bound not to use API data for training its models and deletes requests after 30 days.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You can withdraw it at any time by no longer using the AI features. In the app settings you also decide whether nahbar is allowed to go online at all.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR), as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

Since we do not store any personal data about you ourselves, in many cases we can only refer you to the respective party (e.g. Apple for app analytics or payments, Mistral AI for the use of the AI features). For any questions, you can reach us at info@nahbar.app.

7. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg, Königstraße 10a, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany — baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de.
